Baseball and bat

A friend in New York had a baby recently and they are mad Yankees fans so I thought I would make their little guy a little bat and ball.
Only problem was my family was hit with ongoing bad health so this was a very slow process that was only finished a week ago. Hopefully it arrives soon enough.
It was based on a caricature pattern for a baseball and bat but I didn't add the caps and faces as I wanted it just to be a bat and ball.
I tried stitching little arrowed red stitches for the ball which I had mixed success with - hopefully they don't think that it is too rubbish.
I also only had light brown in a thicker weight yarn to that of the white so I used an average hook between the two. I think it worked out.
I thought that as so many of my tracking stats come from America as well as Australia (and a few in Europe too) that I should put this up as there may be others interested.

Olaf

I created Olaf with a free pattern from Amidorable Crochet - http://www.amidorablecrochet.ca/
Jackie makes some absolutely AMAZING crochet creations and I loved making her free Olaf inspired pattern however she had to remove this pattern from her site. I have no confirmation from her as to why but if it is like the story I hear of a Primary School near me who tried to do a Mary Poppins play to raise money for the school but was shot down by Disney.... as they didn't pay for licencing. Then I am tipping Jackie got an email saying "Take it down and we will leave you alone."

She had created all the main characters from Frozen and I had planned to make them all for my daughter to enjoy but sadly Olaf was the only one I could get finished. Luckily for me as a few hours after I had finished it the pattern was gone!

So while you can not make this gorgeous little guy anymore you do need to bookmark her website as she is amazing and is also very generous and shares some of her patterns.

Baby shoes with a difference

I made these baby shoes for a present. (I have also made two more, one set in green and another in blue - lots of babies in my life at the moment!) I think they are utterly gorgeous and were relatively easy to create - just a little fiddly at points.

You can also add felt to them if you want for the soles but I figured that the babies I was going to be gifting these to would not be walking in them and would wear socks as well so it was unnecessary.

When I gave them as a gift I stuffed them with tissue paper as without little feet in them they do not look anywhere near as cute as they do filled out.

Owls

I created these owls just as fun projects that I could pick up and do a few stitches and put down again without being annoyed.

Except I changed it slightly and added some feet.
I went to Resource Rescue - http://discountcraftsupplies.com.au/ A place semi local to me where they recycle items from industry and business that can be used for craft. It is a fabulous idea. I got some rubber pellets that I used to stuff these little guys so that they weigh a bit more and sit on the shelf nicely - so obviously not safe for little children.
I found the pattern really easy to follow and fit my need of not having much time to crochet at the moment so wanted to have something I could just pick up and put down.
I am giving these little critters away as presents so I hope they are well received.

Convertible mittens/fingerless gloves

I wanted some gloves for pram walking so made some fingerless ones from this pattern. Fingerless gloves

But then I figured out how my gauge was and made a mitten top to add on. This wasn't from a pattern but I had seen these types of gloves before at the shops.

I have big palms and long fingers too so it doesn't look so cute but they serve the purpose. I added a button to hold the mitten part back when not in use.

Missing in action

I have been a little missing in action lately.
I had bub number 2 and she has been very hard work and time and energy consuming. She is gorgeous, just not a fan of sleeping.

But lately I have had a crack at a few things.

I had made the hood and scarf too but I can't find it at the moment to take a photo.

I really like the pattern of the hdc then dc with gaps. The photo I first took was dark and while it showed the pattern it didn't show the yarn. So I took the other photos.

I also made the heart below. It was this pattern, puffy heart.

I made this super quickly for a friend who had got some heartbreaking news and I wanted to give her something she could squeeze and be reminded people were there for her and loved her.

I also made some mittens but will have to find them to take a photo.

These were all super easy patterns to use and modify to my needs.
